Close to Naukuchiatal, and Nainital, but still away from the maddening tourist crowds…The drive to this quaint valley view cottage is enchanting as it is s perched amidst pine and oak forests, peach and plum orchards, lemon groves, cultivated terraces, and meadows.
There are two popular versions to why the village is called Jungalia. The first one is about how Kumaon being covered with impenetrable forests, the villagers commuted from tree to tree to move around, thereby calling their home the Jungalia Gaon. The other one is about an Englishman who was so aghast and appalled by the behaviour of a local lad that he called him “jungali” instantly and thus the entire village “Jungalia”.
The cottage has three bedrooms. All the rooms have large windows and panoramic views of the valley and mountains except one, which has a garden view. The ground floor has an elegant living room and dining area. There is a small dining area on the first floor for the convenience of guests staying upstairs and a kitchenette for making tea and coffee for the self sufficient traveler.
Balconies, verandahs, terraces and patios provide plenty of open space. The ground floor bedroom has an especially large verandah running the entire length of the cottage. Apart from booking a room, it’s possible to book the entire cottage.
