The homestay is set near an 800-year old temple. And promises the traveller an experience of heritage mixed with nature. As conservationists, the owners are proud to say that the unhotel is ninety percent self sustained, with a dairy farm, solar electricity, rain harvested water and home grown grains and greens.
‘Home on the Hill’ – Udaipur has ten rooms (comprising of double and twin bed rooms) that are air conditioned and equipped with handpicked furniture, contemporary art pieces, spacious bathrooms and essentials.
Extra beds can be put in the rooms on an additional cost. All rooms have large bay windows – some of them with vistas of the beautiful Aravallis – patios with easy chairs, lily-ponds and easy access to the gardens so as to replicate the feeling of being outdoors. Moreover it is a pet-friendly resort!
There is an infinity pool overlooking the Sajjan Garh fort, a terrace that provides grand views of the skyline and city palace and an open-to-sky courtyard that literally opens up to the heavens.
The main attractions include cycling tours (on prior notice), yoga classes, farm walks and heritage Indian cooking demonstrations. The host Major Durga Das is a keen bird watcher and loves taking out his guests on a spree.
The homestay is fully equipped with WiFi, a laundry service and also provides a taxi service and shuttles to the airport and railway station.
Breakfast is included. Lunch and dinner can be served on additional charges. Host Jyoti Jasol is an outstanding cook and is always ready to whip up some delicious traditional Rajasthani food with produce from her own farm for her guests.
