Close your eyes. Sense the beauty surrounding you. Feel the cool desert sand on your toes. Open your eyes and see a billion stars all at once! Welcome to the ‘Desert Retreat’, located in a village somewhere between Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, where a serene yet stunning landscape awaits you. There is magic at play everyday – twice a day – with enchanting sunrises and colourful sunsets reflecting their hues everywhere.
The remote location is what sets this place apart. Accessible via a four wheel drive only, it is set on a nearly 100 foot high sand dune, close to the village – Jamba. Jamba is the birthplace of the founding saint of the Bishnoi tribe of Rajasthan. This is a tribe that has long lived in harmony with, and act as conservationists of the region’s flora and fauna.
While here, interact with villagers and local craftsmen, buy special shoes, take a camel safari to the nearby salt pans, check out the migratory Demoiselle Cranes and other birds, savour a glass of wine while the sunset mesmerises you, connect the stars, or be there when one of the many desert festivals are on.
There are eighteen air-conditioned, spacious and luxurious cottages overlooking the sand dunes and the pool.
