A penchant for discovery, a zest for travel and a desire to venture into the unknown – that’s what led this group of four fearless Indian women to take on this challenging trip. Six countries, 17,000 kilometers – the recent biking expedition, ‘Road to Mekong’ on the newly laid India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway.
Fondly called ‘Bikernis’, Hyderabadis Jai Bharathi, Shanthi Susan, Piya Bahadur and Shilpa Balakrishnan, professionals from varied backgrounds shared their passion for biking and got together to go all the way from Telangana to Thailand.
In an interview to Inditales blogger Anuradha Goyal, captain Jai Bharathi reveals all the hurdles, the good times, the challenges and the successes they had on the way. Despite a huge difference in their riding experiences, these women didn’t lose hope and worked towards their joint goal. And supported by government agencies, their successful trip is even in the process of becoming either a web-series or documentary soon!
