In the mostly 35 degree plus heat of concrete Gurgaon, off one the most crowded roads of Gurgaon – Sohna Road lies one of the most vibrant B&Bs of this corporate destination – Cinnamon Stays. A bed & breakfast, home-away-from-home, a friendly pad for stays and conversations, a first-time-hospitality venture and a couple’s serendipitous discovery of their latent entrepreneurship all rolled into one.
Cinnamon Stays is adman Manish and Executive Coach and diversity consultant Shilpi’s first business venture. Apart from an aunt who tried her hand at raising chicken some 5 decades back and another who ran a fast food chain in Patna some 3 decades back, they have had little entrepreneurial inspiration from their families.
But the couple has preserved with their maiden hospitality venture. At Cinnamon they have now played hosts to travellers from more than 70 different countries. Believe us, they once hosted a guest from the island of Guadalupe. It’s a tiny volcanic island located some 240 kilometres off the west coast of Mexico‘s Baja California Peninsula. There are under 250 people living on that island. Cinnamon hosted one of them.
are replete with thematic quirky decor, handmade posters, DIY-lamps, personalised service and delicious home-made food. The mutton of Gumaan Singh, the strict caretaker-cum-cook from Uttarakhand is highly recommended. Their other cook Ravi makes the famous Bihari Litti-Chokha.
When not travelling or teaching their teenager son Neo, give a shout to Manish or Shipi. They can even accompany you to the neighbourhood pub – Open Tap.
In a nutshell, Cinnamon is unlike most guest houses in Gurgaon. Stay at Cinnamon to experience the Urban Unhotel!0
